Hello Funky Followers!!

It has been too long.  The summer just flew by but I hope that you did enjoy it.  So much happened this summer that I would need a new blog to explain it all but here are the highlights and the lowlights:

Lowlight: The Funky Lil Jaguar has suspended our consignment business indefinitely.  I know, I know what are you going to do with all those summer clothes your kids outgrew and the bag of winter stuff that you just discovered will not fit this year????

Highlight: You know we would not shut down operations without providing you with great options for recycling those clothes.  This summer we discovered and fell in love with:

Once Upon A Child has locations in MD and VA.  The stores buy clothes for all seasons all the time.  And the best part is they pay CASH ON THE SPOT $$$$$$.  If you are looking for clothes, toys, books, or even furniture for your little jaguars they have a great collection of items and you will get more for your items by trading them as opposed to taking cash.  Did I mention they have a frequent buyer/seller card?  Yep love this place! www.onceuponachild.com

*** 529KidsConsign.com

529KidsConsign.com is a great shop because it is online!  Yep you don’t have to leave your house to purchase great new items for your little ones.  The ladies who run the shop are based in VA so you do have to set up an appointment with them to sell your stuff.  You can visit their website to find pieces from our inventory.  Look for the items labeled: CARM. www.529kidsconsign.com

Highlight: Although we are not going to be selling any items at the market we will still be packing up the little jaguars and taking in all the DMV has to offer for the fall.

THIS WEEKEND CHECK OUT………..

Mother’s Day Around The World

5 May

For some, Mother’s Day is a day off. For others it is best spent bonding and relaxing with our funky lil jaguars. However you choose to celebrate, think about moms around the world.  Here is a just a short list of how, when, and where this wondrous day is celebrated around the world.

Mother’s Day in UK

In the United Kingdom, Mother’s Day falls on the fourth Sunday of the fasting period of Lent. The excitement, the feelings, the celebrations behind the day is the same in UK, as any other place in the world, the only difference being the date assigned to the festival and the stories related to it.

Mother’s Day in Ireland
Mother’s Day celebrations in Ireland also take place on the fourth Sunday in the Christian fasting month of Lent, similar to the United Kingdom. In the country, the day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and spirit. On this day, every child thanks his/her mom for the unending love and affection which he/she has received from her.

Mother’s Day in Australia
In Australia, Mothers Day is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm and joy. It falls on the same day as in US i.e. the second Sunday in the month of May. Australians celebrate the day by giving flowers and presents to the mothers. At the same time, every mom and her child try to be together on this special day.

Mother’s Day in Canada
Mother’s Day is the most popular festival in Canada, after Christmas and Valentine’s Day. It is celebrated on the second Sunday in the month of May. On this day, all the moms in Canada receive gifts, cards and flowers from their children, as an expression of their love and thankfulness.

Mother’s Day in Mexico
In the North American country of Mexico, the date of Mother’s Day is fixed. It is celebrated on 10th May every year. Though the date of this special celebration in Mexico does not match with that of other countries, the feeling and spirit behind it remain the same. By celebrating Mother’s Day, Mexican children express their gratitude towards their mother.

Mother’s Day in New Zealand
Even in New Zealand, Mothers Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in the month of May, just like US. On this day, all the kids in the country present their moms with gifts and cards and also take them out on lunch, dinner, etc. The whole idea behind this is to make her feel extremely special.

Mother’s Day in South Africa
In South Africa, Mothers Day is celebrated a week before US i.e. on the first Sunday in the month of May. Children from every corner of the country try to reach their mothers on the day, to thank her for unconditional love and care that they keep on receiving from her, year after year.

Mother’s Day in India
The trend of celebrating Mother’s Day in India is very new. However, in the small duration since its initiation, the day has gained massive popularity. India also follows the concept of US and celebrates Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May. Though there is no national holiday on Mother’s Day, the feelings and emotions behind the celebration remain the same.
